Description
The painting “Over meadowland” is the second work in the "Heimat" series. The series is based on photographs by European photographers and focuses on the beauty and uniqueness of the wildlife in our European forests.
It was spotted in meadowland in the Slovak forests of Malá Fatra – the brown bear, a symbol of Slovakia’s wild forests. While searching for food, it suddenly catches a scent that it is not alone. In all its splendor, it rises from the tall grass and looks attentively toward the forest.
Hardly any other subject polarizes Slovakia as much as the brown bear in the wild: the danger it can pose and, at the same time, the admiration for what it embodies. It stands for strength and splendor, but also for fear and fascination, for affection, but also for the conflicts that affect people.
