About me
My name is Zuzana Keller, and I am a self-taught artist specializing in realistic acrylic animal painting. Born in Slovakia, I have been living in Bavaria since 2016.
My artistic journey began with pencil drawings and later shifted to acrylic painting, which now forms the focus of my work and is based on my early fascination with depicting animals.
THEME
My work centers on animal motifs that convey emotions and social themes beyond their mere depiction. I am interested in the feelings and thoughts that animals can evoke in us. This results in both classical, static animal portraits and wildlife series that tell stories ranging from strength and playfulness to silent and touching moments.
My central motifs include both native wildlife and animals from diverse habitats worldwide, including tropical rainforests, arctic regions, and the savannas of Africa. My aim is not only to depict animals in detail but, above all, to capture their individual charisma, presence, and expressiveness, and to reflect the emotional impact of these encounters in my paintings.
TECHNIQUE
I work with acrylics on canvas and wood, combining fine brushstrokes with subtle color gradients to create depth and vibrancy. I place great importance on precision and attention to detail to achieve the desired result. The interplay between transparent and opaque layers of paint is an essential part of my technical approach.
For my animal motifs, I collaborate with national and international photographers whose photographs serve as the basis for my paintings. I deliberately choose shots that evoke a strong emotional impact through a particular posture, pose, or an expressive moment.
I prefer large-format works, as the size of the painting intensifies the animal's presence and impact.
PORTFOLIO
In addition to my independent artistic activities, I undertake commissioned work and create individual animal portraits for private clients and companies. Furthermore, I have expanded my offerings to include courses and live paintings. Private lessons are also available by arrangement.
