Description
The work depicts a group of fallow deer in a meadow after a summer thunderstorm. While most of the animals have settled down, the lead animal stands alert, keeping an eye on its surroundings.
The scene illustrates the interplay of tranquility and vigilance within the herd. The animals appear relaxed and secure, while one of them remains attentive, taking on the role of observer.
The landscape is characterized by dry, reddish earth and grassy areas in warm red and ochre tones. The late-day light intensifies these colors, giving the scene a warm and peaceful ambiance.
The work speaks of cohesion, trust, and leadership. It shows how each animal has its place in the group and how peace and attention are intertwined.
