Description
The work depicts the unexpected encounter between a squirrel and a fox in the forest.
The depiction focuses on the silent presence of both animals and the tension arising from their natural differences. Although the colours of the two forest dwellers are similar, their size and habitats could not be more different: one finds shelter high up in the branches, the other lives and digs itself into the ground. Yet they meet on the forest floor – a place that belongs to both.
A pine cone lies between the two animals and becomes a connecting element. It defuses the tension and makes it clear that the forest has enough for everyone and its treasures can be accessible to all.
